Capcom Announces Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil has been going for quite a while now, so it seems not really surprising at all that Capcom is going ahead and making a 6th game in the series.

The announcement was this morning along with the release of a trailer which is surprisingly descriptive. Involving Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, a man voiced by Troy Baker and a Zombie president. Sounds to me like a Resident Evil fan's dream. No date was given it seemsbut you can imagine that it'll be late this year or early 2013.

The game itself looks pretty awesome, there is a fair amount of gameplay along with story information in the trailer. One crucial gameplay aspect to note is that you can now move while aiming, a revolution for the Resident Evil series and something that was a major complaint for players of 5.

I have to say though, am I the only one who thinks this is getting ridiculous? there really comes a point where you just have to ask if a franchise should have such a large number in it's name. We're now running into situations where companies are becoming so reliant on sequels that the numbers next to these games are getting bigger and bigger, Tekken, Soul Calibur and worst of all Final Fantasy just to name a few. I just have to say that I'm bored of the same characters and experiences You can always guess whats going to happen, there will be an outbreak of some sort of virus, there will be zombies and then people will get shot a lot. Maybe it's just me but I worry that games are far too relient on sequels now and we'll never get any original ideas in the future.
