Alienware Announces Console Style PC

PC gaming has always been famously more expensive than consoles. Price of hardware is one of the main reasons that consoles became so popular, hardware that was designed to play games and was much cheaper than most PCs.

Today Alienware announced their initiative to make PC gaming cheap and easy to set up, by essentially making a PC that looks like a console the X-51. According to Alienware, the bottom range X51 costs £699 can run Battlefield 3 at 1080p on high settings at 32fps and the high end model can run the same settings at 54fps. Eurogamer has a full write up on the specs of the machine.

This sounds like a half decent attempt for Alienware to get PC gaming on the cheap but they seemed to have failed on pricing £700 is way to much for a machine that runs battlefield about as well as a £170 console. You could get an Xbox or PS3 for much cheaper. Not only that, but you could build yourself a much better PC for the same price. The case does look pretty awesome though, they've designed this really well, but don't be fooled by the design. Neogaf has a brilliant page on how to make a much better PC.
