Hothead announces new Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Game

Yesterday, probably in celebration of towel day, Hothead games announced that they would be bringing us another adaptation of Douglas Adams' brilliant book The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and I for one shall not be panicing.

I have to say I was both excited and worried at first by this announcement. We already have a brilliant text based adventure game written by Adams himself (which can be played here), and you have to worry that this American developer might make design decisions that just wouldn't work in such an adaptation.

Most of my worries have since gone though. Through what little info we're given, we can see that these guys are fans of the source material. The website contains a small, green monitor with the announcement and the press release states Megadodo publications as the publisher. Small jokes that I think show a great amount of respect for the source.

However, I'm still a little doubtful. While Hothead is..erm..headed by Ron Gilbert, creator of the fantastic monkey island games and the penny arcade games, they are the developers that brought us the less than fantastic Deathspank and it's sequel.

All this opinion is based on tiny bit's of info though. It's far too early to tell if the game is going to be any good, I'm sure we'll see more later in the year.
